OK, this weekend was the perfect combination of exhausting and fun! It's been a long time since I've had this much fun. What was I doing? I'm glad you asked!
One of the newer themed fun-runs is the Run for Your Lives event, a zombie-infested obstacle course about 5 km long. Everyone gathers together in groups and heads out.
The first fun part about the weekend was doing the run. Between zombies, hills, mud, electric fences, and lots of other obstacles, it was a blast.
But even more fun was being a zombie for the late shift, from 2:30 to 6 in the afternoon. Starting at 1:00, I went through the Zombie Transformation Center to be turned into an official zombie. Between the scar, the blood, the diseased skin effects, the blood, the splatter all over my clothing, and the blood, it was a pretty amazing process.
I then proceeded to my area, where for the next 3 1/2 hours I chased people uphill to exhaust them just before they encountered 9 other hungry zombies. Our kill rate in our zone was 50% or so, taking care of many hopefuls right when they believed they were actually going to make it. Fun!
Of course, at 42, 60 uphill sprints took a bit out of me. My legs are sore. But totally worth it!
